Zooplankton Variability Analysis and Sampling Design for Lake Ontario, Canada

Assessing Zooplankton Variability for Lake Ontario Management

This project analyzes zooplankton variability and designs effective sampling strategies for Lake Ontario. It also involves eutrophication modeling and nutrient reduction scenario analysis for Hamilton Harbour, using SWAT for watershed runoff and reactive transport modeling for sediment.

Project Info: Zooplankton Variability Analysis. Sampling Design

Project Description:

This project is focused on understanding the variability of zooplankton populations in Lake Ontario and developing an effective sampling design. We’ll also contribute to eutrophication modeling and scenario analysis for reducing nutrient loads in Hamilton Harbour, a key area of Lake Ontario. Our work includes watershed runoff modeling with SWAT and reactive transport modeling to analyze organic matter breakdown and nutrient release from sediment cores. This comprehensive approach aims to improve our understanding of Lake Ontario’s ecosystem health and support targeted remediation efforts.
